An intimate journey that sings of sincerity and the tangible desire for beauty takes center stage in the new single by the Italian alternative folk duo
On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, the single ‘Something Beautiful’ from the Italian alternative/folk project Mac/Corlevich will be released on major DSP platforms and digital stores. The new release from the duo, consisting of singer Cristiano Mecchi and guitarist Davide Corlevich, is published by the XO La Factory label WITH THE CONTRIBUTION OF NUOVOIMAIE and serves as the third preview of the debut album ‘Rain or Shine,’ scheduled for May, following the singles ‘Machines’ and ‘Farewell Kisses.’
Mac/Corlevich draw inspiration from folk, Americana, and grunge, distilling their sounds and blending them with a vibrant sensibility unaffected by nostalgia. Through a dry but robust formula, mainly based on fingerpicking acoustic guitar and vocals, they manage to be deeply intense and evocative.
The duo states: ‹‹ ‘Something Beautiful’ unfolds with expressive vocals harmonising with the guitar, evoking the timeless warmth of 1960s and 1970s folk. The song explores emotions, and its elements blend in an intimate journey that sings of sincerity, and the palpable desire for beauty and authenticity. In the finale, reminiscent at times of some Simon & Garfunkel productions, the song acquires a dense and full tone, with its prolongation suspending the conclusive cadence always a bit further. ››
The new single will be presented live with the rest of the repertoire on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Mojo in Peschiera del Garda (Italy), where the band will celebrate the launch of ‘Something Beautiful’ in the company of its audience.
Mac/Corlevich is an Italian duo born from the encounter between Davide Corlevich and Cristiano Mecchi, two musicians from Verona with different musical backgrounds converging into a new project. Corlevich has one foot in the world of classical guitar and constant artistic activity in this field but has always explored very different genres with bands like Anteo and Galaverna, accumulating extensive live and studio experience. Mecchi, an expressive singer and versatile drummer, has been part of many bands associated with the rock and underground scene, such as neXus, 3tons, Poseydon, Supergonzo, and Oui The North, with numerous recordings and hundreds of concerts throughout Italy. A successful fusion of experiences and complementary talents.
